Claire Webster was presented with an award after she qualified as the Best Childcare student for 2010. The presentation took place at Future Focus, the centre where Ms Webster completed her studies in child care. Her work was chosen from among that of around 80 students.
The award was presented to her by Bev Williams from CYQ who was in Malta carrying out assessor training for Future Focus.
Future Focus launched earlier this year a suite of courses in Health and Social Care and Early Years programmes. It is now an accredited centre of CACHE.
CACHE (The Council for Awards in Children’s Care and Education) is the UK’s only specialist awarding organisation for the children and adult care sectors, with a portfolio of qualifications ranging from Entry to Level 6. Last year, over 150,000 learners registered with CACHE from over 1000 UK based Centres and overseas. The CACHE courses are recognized internationally including in Malta. Future Focus has carried out specific training for its trainers on the CACHE programmes. Private childcare centres are offering practical training to the students and some of the students who graduated from Future Focus are now the owners of their own centres. Students have also been sent abroad for training in childcare.

Malta student does well!
The UK’s Association of Business Executives (ABE) has announced the results of its June 2011 examinations. Ms Natalia Brincat, a student at Future Focus came top in the examination for Travel, Tourism and Hospitality.
Ian Fraser, ABE’s Associate Director, said, “Natalia can be very proud that she has proven she is the best in her subject in exams that were taken worldwide.” Rosanne Galea, Managing Director of Future Focus said “These results augur well for the students who come and study at Future Focus. We constantly try to improve our standards and this shows that these efforts are bringing about results”.
Future Focus in Floriana teaches ABE qualifications in Malta. More than 50,000 students study for an ABE qualification worldwide every year. Students study ABE qualifications to improve their career prospects or as a route to university (as ABE qualifications are accepted for entry at various levels by more than 80 universities worldwide).
ABE has just launched an updated series of professional qualifications in Business Management (with pathways in either: Business Management, Financial Management or the Management of Information Systems), Human Resource Management, Marketing Management and Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management. All of these subjects are available at Diploma, Higher Diploma and Graduate Diploma level. Business Management is also available at Postgraduate Diploma level. Local private training provider becomes accredited to run child care courses and courses for facilitators

Leading Maltese health and fitness training provider gains UK awarding body approval
Future Focus, a leading private training organisation based in Malta, has recently become an approved centre of Central YMCA Qualifications
(CYQ), the UK’s leading awarding body for health, fitness and wellbeing qualifications.
Future Focus has been training health and fitness professionals in Malta over the past 3 years and becomes the first training provider on the
island to achieve CYQ approval. It is a member of the Malta Exercise Health and Fitness Association and has close links with most health and
fitness centres on the island. Future Focus is now accepting applications for courses that lead to selected CYQ qualifications; the first of
these courses begin in September 2010.
CYQ offer over 40 recognised and respected qualifications, from introductory to advanced levels. There are over 350 CYQ centres delivering
more than 30,000 certificates each year within the UK and internationally; CYQ has centres in a number of European countries, South Africa,
Abu Dhabi, and Bahrain. CYQ is also the official accreditation unit for the European Health and Fitness Association (EHFA). EHFA’s aim is to

Future Focus recently held a graduation ceremony. During this ceremony more than
100 students received their certificates including Maltese and overseas

On of the students, Mr Antoine Bezzina made a short address on how he benefited
from the training and the work placement organized by Future Focus with Umbria
Training Centre using Leonardo da Vinci – EU funds
Rosanne Galea also took the opportunity to launch a new course – Diploma course
in Project Management for which training in now being offered by Future Focus.
Photos taken by students who underwent a three week work placement in Italy in
the field on Tourism and Travel agency management and hotel operations.
These students went for the three week work placement to Umbria Training Centre
and benefited from the Leonardo da Vinci funds.

It was a great experience. For me it opened a whole new horizon and I wish that
I could go again. I had followed the diplomas in hotel operations and tourism
and travel agency management and saw the theory being applied in practice. I
thank Future Focus for giving me this golden opportunity to undergo a work
placement aboard. I leant about other work practices and cultures and I made a
lot of friends. We were a great group and got along very well together. We made
new contacts and had great speakers addressing us. I strongly recommend such a
work placement to others.
