COURSE INFORMATION
An opportunity to study part-time for a Work-Based Learning Degree in Public Services Management is available through distance learning. Northumbria University has developed an innovative programme of study which runs over 2 years and enables students to study in their own time and at their own pace. The content of the degree programme will allow students to link their learning to work-based topics and issues. The delivery of the programme will take place through an introductory weekend school, distance learning materials, online learning support and individual tutorial support.
In year 1, students will undertake 4 modules in:
- Identifying and managing their own learning
- Amalysing the public service environment
- Research methods for public service managers
- Work-based project 1
In year 2, students will undertake 3 modules in:
- Independent study
- Public policy and public management
- Work-based project 2
A Diploma in Higher Education (Public services Management) will be awarded on successful completion of the first year of study).

Standard Entry:
This course is aimed at people working in the public or voluntary sectors. Admission to the programme in September will be based on interview, evidence of work-based experience, commitment to continuing professional development and any previous qualifications.
