Course Information:
The program uses distance learning to enable students to critically analyse the role of nursing within the changing structure of health care. Students will:
Develop an understanding of key concepts underpinning nursing practice
Undertake a theoretical analysis of the role of nursing within the changing structure of the health care in a variety of settings. The subject areas covered include:
- Evidence-based practice
- Health promotion
- Humanities
- Information Technology
- Life sciences
- Political issues in health care
- Practice development
- Professional issues
- Psychology
- Research methods
- Social policy
Sociology:
The program maintains a clinical focus by orienting students towards analysis of these concepts from a practice perspective. The program can be studied for one academic year on a full-time basis or a part-time basis for a 2-year period.
Students rely upon the internet, compact disks and emails as the main ways of accessing materials and staff.

Compulsory Requirements:
You must ensure before you begin a program that your English is good enough for you to follow the lectures and take part in discussions. Minimum formal qualification in English (written & spoken). You may wish to contact you local British Council Office for information on how to obtain English Language proficiency ratings.
Standard Entry:
Entrants would normally be qualified nurses educated to Diploma level. Applicants who do not conform to standard entry requirements may be considered.
Additional Notes:
Police Clearance. All applicants must achieve police clearance.
