Overview
Students seeking a solid foundation in the business world
should consider a Foundation degree for entry to work or
progression to an Honours degree course. The Business
and Management course is an ideal choice if you are
looking for a degree that offers a wide range of business
subjects covering areas such as Marketing, Human Resource
Management, Finance and Management.
‘Level C’ provides underpinning in business subjects and
an emphasis on work focussed learning that enables
students to relate their studies to the world of work.
The first semester includes a number of activities
including the induction week and team building workshops
that support the students’ personal development and study
skills. As part of this level the students may complete
the European Computer Driving Licence syllabus.
By the end of Level C the student will have a detailed
knowledge of: marketing principles and approaches;
organisational behaviour and analysis; human resource
management practices; legal frameworks for businesses;
financial decision making and managing resources.
Level I builds on Level C and introduces students to self-
directed research work. Students produce workable
business plans intended for small businesses. Successful
completion can lead direct to a career, or for students
who meet the achievement criteria, the opportunity to
progress to the one year full-time BA (Hons) Business and
Management top-up degree course.
A wide range of academic and personal skills are
developed including presentation skills, organisational
skills, team work, information technology and research.
