FdA Business and Management

Overview

Students seeking a solid foundation in the business world should consider a Foundation degree for entry to work or progression to an Honours degree course. The Business and Management course is an ideal choice if you are looking for a degree that offers a wide range of business subjects covering areas such as Marketing, Human Resource Management, Finance and Management.

‘Level C’ provides underpinning in business subjects and an emphasis on work focussed learning that enables students to relate their studies to the world of work. The first semester includes a number of activities including the induction week and team building workshops that support the students’ personal development and study skills. As part of this level the students may complete the European Computer Driving Licence syllabus.

By the end of Level C the student will have a detailed knowledge of: marketing principles and approaches; organisational behaviour and analysis; human resource management practices; legal frameworks for businesses; financial decision making and managing resources.

Level I builds on Level C and introduces students to self- directed research work. Students produce workable business plans intended for small businesses. Successful completion can lead direct to a career, or for students who meet the achievement criteria, the opportunity to progress to the one year full-time BA (Hons) Business and Management top-up degree course.

A wide range of academic and personal skills are developed including presentation skills, organisational skills, team work, information technology and research.
